A word from the street - 11.24.05
submitter: Julie
location:Blessington St, St Kilda, Victoria Australia
This work is about the gentrification of my neighbourhood. it is also about the fragility of life's circumstances. I'm too old to get busted for graffitti, so i can do this in broad day light and have great conversations with people about the work. After a couple of days or weeks, the mattresses are taken to the dump. i post all my work on a blog site called ilovestkilda.com

my hips took a risk while sleeping out

This advice came from an old guy I know who used to sleep out until his hips 'went' from sleeping on the cold ground. However another uy who i met thought it was a message from an aggrieved woman who thought her partner was always sleeping around. The message is always in the eye of the beholder.

This girl has a great site with a really interesting view of the world. She takes the street trash to a whole new level.

great work, yesterday I talked for 40 minutes about streetmatt with a guy who really understood the complexity of this micro-cosmos, I can imagine the same conversations when you are at work
