well it was rather late, especially over here, and as there was no immediate reply, I felt alone and went to bed

Smart Set commented on 03.15.05
Yes. Burning the candle at both ends. I couldn't understand it - you said hello and then disappeared.

wim commented on 03.15.05
so were you SS

Rebecca commented on 03.15.05
Well not just that but my provider is known for being behind the times that way...it's said they put all their reources into the network, which is why my phone works on mountaintops but doesn't take pictures.

Vogon3 commented on 03.15.05
sorry Rebecca forgot USA was way behind in mobile tech

Smart Set commented on 03.15.05
Hi, wim. You're up late!

wim commented on 03.15.05
anyone out there???

Rebecca commented on 03.15.05
Yeah well unfortunately I'm on a CDMA network and that Samsung will probably be GSM. However I am very excited about the vx-8000, which take macro closeups worth printing and everything.

BUT COMING SOON.............................. Samsung Electronics Co Ltd unveiled the world's first mobile phone with a powerful 7-megapixel camera on Wednesday, providing a potential competitive threat to manufacturers of digital cameras. Samsung has been stepping up development of increasingly sophisticated phones for high-end users looking to access games, music and movies on their handsets. It launched the world's first 5-megapixel phone in October.

Vogon3 commented on 03.15.05
sony ericsson D750i has 2 megapixels and not bad

ART-chitect commented on 03.14.05
today I ordered my konica-minolta dynax 7D, but you can't phone with it

Rebecca commented on 03.14.05
A 1MP phone can still look like crap if it's using a cheap lense and CMOS sensor. You just get a bigger crappy picture.

wim commented on 03.14.05
I don't get this cropping thing, I allways try to keep it natural and amase myself witj the items on the picture you do not notice while taking it; never saw a dog like that in Portugal

Mattress Mutt commented on 03.14.05
Rebecca, You should check out Wetspot's submissions, his camera phone takes really crisp pics. I think his is an LG model of some kind. SS, if I could get that dog to point I'd quit my job. I'm going to keep the shadow point in mind, sounds like a cool idea.

Rebecca commented on 03.12.05
I had no idea a Treo took pictures this good. I thought about getting a Treo but decided to wait and get an LG vx-8000 with the CCD camera myself. It's huge but anything for the cause, right?

Smart Set commented on 03.12.05
Your pictures are very good quality from 0.3 megapixels. The phone pics we usually see here are very blocky. I've heard there are 1 megapixel phones now and thought you must be using one. (BTW, if you'd done a vertical point your shadow-arm would have reached the distant mattress. I know it's hard to think of everything in the excitement of the moment. And shouldn't the mutt ideally be a pointer? It would be so fantastic if he could do that pointer thing at every matt.)

Yoda knows... a Paduan learner is a student Jedi knight. In this case, a student in the way of the streetmattress : P The Camera Phone is a Treo 600, I got from my job. Little do they know I use it to capture my dog next to mattresses.

FOD40UK commented on 03.09.05
All my SM subs are au naturel!(only 'cos I dont know how to crop or enhance!!)

Yoda commented on 03.09.05
Yes, many pixels this phone has.

Rebecca commented on 03.09.05
I've heard of a "paduan learner" but I don't know what it means. I too would like to know what camera phone this is!

Smart Set commented on 03.09.05
Technical query: are all your photos taken with a camera phone? If so, how many megapixels has it got? Supplementary question: what's a "pad-u-an learner"?

Ding-a-ling commented on 03.09.05
why not become a Pavlovian learner - Matt watering

Mattress Mutt commented on 03.08.05
Thanks for the praise everyone, I think the cropping debate is a good one, especially since now I notice the deadspot. I am merely a pad-u-an learner, I have not mastered the way of the camera phone.

Vogon3 commented on 03.08.05
de milos soon for Mattress Mutt I'm sure

psychobabble commented on 03.08.05
coveting aside - this is a great pic., MM

psychobabble commented on 03.08.05
Though shalt not covet thy neighbour, nor thy neighbour's Matt, nor thy neighbour's crop...

Rebecca commented on 03.08.05
Oh I crop too! But my photography teacher would have frowned on it, that's all. Just like in drawing, I was taught to begin with a pen (no eraser) so as to develop a good line. Ultimately I'd rather be able to compose a good shot in the viewfinder, although my lousy camera is a rangefinder so that's a little tough. That immediacy thing has something going for it too.

Smart Set commented on 03.08.05
Rebecca, where does it say "Thou shalt not crop"? What's wrong with a nice crop every now and again? "Four Bins and a Mat" was nothing until I cropped that mother to within a pixel of its little life. The first thing I do to prepare my mattress photos is consider whether to crop 'em. I regard it as an essential tool in the creation of attractive and clear pics for streetmattress. Is it just that you like the uncontrived immediacy of the pure original image, the equivalent of the punk music ethic?

If Mattress Mutt is really a chiaroscurist can he check my feet as i have a nasty bunion

Rebecca commented on 03.08.05
Seems you're a bit of a chiaroscurist or maybe it's just the hours you keep. Great linear perspective too, with the upright pole at the rear echoing the torn mattress trim in the foreground. All around a great composition except for perhaps the dead area to the left of the canvas. A bit of a crop could have helped that, although of course that's cheating.

Mattress Mutt commented on 03.07.05
The shadows are meant to lead you to the other mattress : ) The pup is a Portuguese Water Dog, I prefer to call hima Vietnamese Death Poodle.

Smart Set commented on 03.04.05
Took me ages to notice the second mattress, and then only after pondering the title. Nice shot.

ShinKicker commented on 03.04.05
hey there MM, i like the way your own shadow got in on this shot. cameo appearance by the artist!

wim commented on 03.03.05
