For some, it's the other way around.

my first submission was from the encouragement of my girlfriend emily (who i've since married) when i was visting her in california back in late 2004/early 2005. i then went back to canada to a small town of Pincher Creek (not many streets let alone matts) to begin research for my book. along the way emily's sister in law died of cancer, Emily and i got married, emily had her own medical crisis (she's all better know) and i settled into west oakland and the bay area. guess the short answer is when life is going smoothly and unencumbered the street matts show themselves otherwise they remain hidden.

Nice to see you back one year on from your triumphant debut, Robert. Why the long gap?
