This mattress lives half in the water and half out. It’s there to stop people killing themselves on the quite bizarre program Takeshi’s Castle, the point of which completely escapes me. It seems to be a programme designed around survival of the luckiest, not the fittest.

I really don’t know for sure what the real point was; I guess some sort of amazing prizes were given out to the winner.
I did not speak Japanese then nor do I now.
My dad was in the Air Force and that’s just where we ended up at. Funny show though!
