1862 - who then would have dared to dream that one day 143 years in the future there would be a lovely big mattress parked outside?

www.boilerinvasion.org/ images/pages/scouting 04_photos/1097-2.jpg Take out the spaces I put in this one so as not to f*%+ up the streetmattress pages. It is a 1097 with ntor.

Hey, all of you, good morning or whatever as we live in different timetables, I am looking for something small with the number 1097 on it, or an item with that number. Some of you know my way of painting, I cannot find a colour #1097. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot allready

I've heard that the only things that can withstand the fallout from a 100 megaton nuclear blast are cockroaches, red-eared turtles, + Victorian pillar-boxes(providing, of course, they've made a suitable shelter under the stairs, and covered the entrance with an old mattress)

They're all over the place. Virtually indestructible.

one would think they would have been condemned obsolete by nowjust like the old red phone booths. Are they a rarity or are there still a lot to be found

It's the domed top of a post box or pillar box, even though it's not really a box, more a cylinder. See #8660 for an example. We even have a colour called "pillar-box red".
