The initials stand for Royal Automobile Club, and, along with the AA (Automobile Association) they are the oldest breakdown services in the UK. When I was a kid the AA patrols on their motorbike-'n'-sidecar combos used to salute a member's car if it was displaying the proud yellow and chrome grille badge. How quaint. |
